What is Voltage?

Definition

A voltage is nothing but the force that moves electrons from one atom to another atom.
To understand Voltage consider this analogy

Electron attitude
Meet Electron

This is the electron. The electron has a negative charge and a negative attitude.

Two electrons repel each other (you can say they hate each other) like magnets with the same polarity.

Now if we put the bunch of these guys together in the box its battery.

Bunch of electron
Battery

So all these electrons have negative charges they repel each other and they want to leave these box so if the battery is connected to the circuits the electrons will flow it is called current.

Current
Flow of electrons
If you haven’t read this article about what is current read it here.

So it is the force that moves electrons from one atom to other atoms

To understand the relationship between voltage and current consider this simple analogy. Voltage pushes the current through the conductor which is restrained by the resistance.

ohm law
Voltage Current and Resistance

The greater the voltage, the greater the flow of electrical current

One volt will drive 6.24 x 1018 electrons in one second.
The unit of voltage is volt.
It is denoted as "V"

Voltage can be direct or alternating. A direct voltage maintains the same polarity at all times. In an alternating voltage, the polarity reverses direction periodically. The number of complete cycles per second is the frequency, which is measured in hertz (one cycle per second),
